Tele München Gruppe - TMG

The Tele München Gruppe (TMG) is a media company based in Munich. It is a subsidiary of Leonine.

The activities of the Tele München Gruppe include license trading, holding stakes in television and radio stations, cinema, video and TV distribution as well as television and film production. It also owns one of the largest film libraries in Europe.

Tele München GmbH was founded on April 27, 1970 by author and producer Walter Ulbrich, who used the company to handle the production of TV films.

On April 28, 2002, the Tele München Group founded a new channel under the brand name Tele 5.
In 2004, the Group concluded an output deal with Warner Bros. Entertainment, whereby it held film rights to newly released blockbusters for the first time. This was followed in 2012 by an output deal with Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, which secured the German-language TV rights for all James Bond films.

The LEONINE Group emerged from the Tele München Group: KKR & Co. Inc. acquired Tele-München Fernseh-GmbH & Co. Produktionsgesellschaft and its associated network of companies and activities in the business areas of TV and feature film production, rights trading, film distribution, home entertainment and merchandising via subsidiaries in 2019.
