This time, the Lübeck homicide division is faced with a seemingly unsolvable task: two years after the disappearance of a young woman, Inspector Finn Kiesewetter (Sven Martinek) is convinced that he has caught the killer. But the court does not consider his guilt proven and acquits the defendant. When the remains of the missing woman are discovered shortly afterwards, the evidence mounts – but a new indictment is not legally possible.
